Is happily ever after making you miserable?

There’s a context I see high-achievers living in that seems innocuous but actually causes them quite a bit of suffering. In this episode, we’ll discuss what that context is and how it shows up so that you can decide if happily ever after is serving you, or not.

If you’re like many of the high achievers I work with, it’s likely that you have too much on your plate. I created The Life Review to help you get clear on exactly what is feeling like too much so you can take steps to have a life that feels both full and spacious. Download The Life Review here.

Kind people don’t micromanage themselves

Many underwater achievers are walking around with a micromanager in their brains all day. Like a little drill sergeant with a checklist and a whistle. Gotta do this. Gotta do that. Joyful balanced leaders don’t have that. They’re focused, calmly and joyfully on what’s in front of them — whether that’s their work, their family, or a sweet cup of coffee and book. In this episode, I’ll reveal two simple things that allow them to have that.

A simple process I’m employing to have more delicious, delightful meals

One of my biggest desires is having flavorful, delicious meals (particularly dinners) available to me at all times. Recently, I unlocked a new way to provide those for myself and in this episode I’m sharing a simple, delightful linchpin habit I’ve developed that makes this possible.

What you want has nothing to do with how good you are

There’s a broken strategy I see many high-performers using in their lives and careers. In this episode, I’m revealing what it is and what balanced joyful leaders do instead.

7 lessons learned from gathering people in our new home

My husband and I love gathering people in our home and in our yard. It hit me recently that the processes we use to organize and plan our get togethers, and the struggles I experience as we do, parallel those of creating my dream life.

In this episode I share 7 lessons I learned hosting dinner parties that you can apply to creating your best life.

Your superpower can change the world

If you feel like you’re playing whack-a-mole with all of the to-do’s popping up in your life and your inbox, I guarantee you’re more focused on what you need to do than what you want to do, the tiny pebbles instead of the big rocks, and believing that you have no choice but to do it all like an underwater achiever.

Joyful, balanced leaders approach this a little differently and in today’s episode I offer one key thing you can focus on to get out of the weeds and into the joy, ease, and most important things of your work and life.

What to focus on if you’re feeling burned out

If you’re dreaming of a solo vacation where you lay in bed and stare out the window all day or wish there was a magic button you could push that would stop the world and incoming requests for a bit, you might be an underwater achiever.

Balanced leaders approach this differently, and in today’s episode I’ll share a critical piece underwater achievers are missing and how you can apply it to your life and situation so you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars and days of vacation time to get the rest and relaxation you crave.

I love it when you rest

So many high-achievers are constantly under water because they have a certain relationship with rest, relaxation, and fun. Today, I’ll share a common misconception about rest and what you can do to feel more on top of things and have more energy today.

How unresolved trauma blocks your joy, connection, and impact with Dr. Don Wood

If you ever find yourself spinning your wheels trying to create something or get to the next level in your life, relationships, or career, unresolved trauma could be at the source of your struggle.

Today’s guest, Dr. Don Wood, shares how and why unresolved trauma, including what he calls “little t trauma,” impacts your brain and can hold you back from the joy, connection, success, ease, and impact you desire.

Dr. Don Wood developed the TIPP method after spending years researching how atmospheric conditions™ affect our minds and impact our lives.  He went back to school later in life to get his PhD in clinical counseling and psychology to learn how to heal his daughter’s crohn’s disease and his wife’s autoimmune disease. In his search for answers for them, Dr. Wood made the connection between trauma and their health issues. In addition, he recognized the daily stress they lived with and the only solutions provided came from medications. His experience with his family provided the determination required to develop a cutting edge neuroscience approach. A holistic solution that provides immediate and long lasting relief. The TIPP program developed by Dr. Wood has benefited individuals all over the world. The results have been impressive. Dr. Wood has helped trauma survivors from the Boston Marathon bombing attack and the Las Vegas shooting as well as highly successful executives and world class athletes perform at their best. The Inspired Performance Institute was built on this simple phrase, “There’s nothing wrong with you, there’s nothing wrong with your mind.”

Dr. Wood has written two books about his research and he has spoken on these topics domestically and internationally.
