Engaged gives you the platform you need to get everything out in the open with one another before you tie the knot. You learn the best ways to communicate socially, personally, sexually, etc. in order to meet the needs of your partner.

Engaged gives you a guide of how to prepare for marriage on every level, and gives you an opportunity to answer discussion questions that you may have never asked or discussed before.

We are so grateful to have taken this course, and we have learned strategies to use going forward in our happy marriage!

Engaged helped to facilitate important conversations that we may not have had if unprompted and made conversations so much easier and less uncomfortable. It gave us a chance to connect with one another on the various topics, as well as each have our own voice.

We learned more about each other and the lines of communication have opened up much more. Learning about our gremlins and the energy levels helped us bring more awareness to how we change depending on how our day went, who we met with, or how we feel in certain situations (work environment, spending time with family, etc.).

We enjoyed the examples, research, additional resources, and personal experiences Joanna discussed. In just a few weeks you can really improve both your verbal and non-verbal communication and gain a better and deeper understanding of your partner. In the end, it will set you on a path to build a stronger relationship.

The Perfect Place to Start

With all this time and effort you’re putting into your wedding, you feel like you should be spending your time planning your marriage.

And you want to.

But you don’t know where to start.

And you’re not the kind of couple to seek traditional pre-marital counseling.

So… where can you turn?

To me. I’m here to help.

I’m Joanna, a Relationship Coach for couples who want to be partners for life.

I’ve created Engaged, a self-guided, online course for couples that answers that critical question, “How can I plan for my marriage while I plan my wedding?”

I created Engaged after my best friend texted me,

“What books would you recommend we read before we get married? We’re not doing pre-marital counseling because we’re not having a religious ceremony but I feel like we should do something.”

That weekend, my husband and I were on a retreat, a weekend getaway we do multiple times a year to check in with each other and reflect on how things are going in our lives.

I sat in the hotel and scribbled down every possible thing that might help my friend. Then I met my husband at a bar and we started writing a list of questions they could discuss together. Questions that get to the heart of who they are and what they want their marriage to be.

So who am I and what qualifies me to help you?

You know how some people are really into sports? Like really into sports? Or politics. Or history. Fashion. Food. ______. They are curious about it and fascinated by it and can’t get enough of it. Reading things and watching things and trying things.

That’s me with relationships. People fascinate me. Relationships fascinate me. And I’m pretty good at them. Being in them and helping other people with theirs.

  1. I’ve been the student of relationships my whole life. I’m the oldest of five children so I’ve a lot of practice when it comes to having relationships.
  2. My parents were unhappily married until I was a sophomore in college. They loved each other, still do, but they couldn’t make their marriage work. They stopped liking each other. It was heartbreaking for me as a kid to see two really good people completely disconnected from their spouse. They tried over the years, but just couldn’t get on the same page. I learned a lot from observing them.
  3. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Mike, who I still adore, and have loved the six years we’ve been married. Marriage is not at all what I thought it would be. It’s so much richer, and vulnerable, than I could’ve imagined. And it’s great.
  4. I’ve studied this in formal and informal settings. I’m a Certified Professional Coach from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. I’ve read dozens of books on relationships, underlining in pink pen the things that stick out to me. Often times these are things that I’ve witnessed or intuitively knew to be true and the author gave me the words for them.

I want to help you see the best in your partner and in yourself and I want to help your partner see those things too.

Engaged will help you do just that.
